\Field, the poppies blow. Between the crosses, row on row.” The poppy has become recognized as a memorial flower in nations around the world.
Since 1922, the VFW of the United States has conducted an annual distribution of “Buddy Poppies” to raise funds for charitable programs on behalf of the needy and disabled veterans. Nationwide, the campaign distributes10 million annually, most during the periods preceding Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
