Bryce Crowe (35) of Shore Regional goes in for two of his game-high 19 points,. He was also the player that hit the 3-point shot to make the game go into overtime.
He might be going in on an angle, but Havier Gonzalez was the straight up high scorer for Long Branch with 17 points in the 60-52 overtime loss to Shore.
Thursday night, January 16, the Green Wave of Long Branch were in West Long Branch to face the Blue Devils of Shore Regional in a boys Shore Conference B North divisional basketball game. It was one of the most exciting games of the season with the lead changing back-and-forth all night.
With 7.2 seconds to play in regulation time, the visiting Green Wave were up 48-45. Shore Regional had possession of the ball after a timeout and were inbounding at halfcourt. They made two passes, the second was to senior Bryce Crowe, who was right in front of his bench and coaches. He took shot it, and it was nothing but net as the horn sounded to end regulation time. In those final overtime minutes, Shore played their best basketball of the night, outscoring the Wave 12-4, taking the 60-52 victory. With the win, Shore Regional improved to 9-2 overall and are in second place in the B North at 3-1. Long Branch slips to 1-10 overall and 1-3 in division games.
Shore Regional had Maddox Paulin, sophomore, as high scorer with 21 points. Last year as a freshman he had 13 varsity points all season. As of this victory he has 129 points in 11 games. Crowe was right behind his teammate scoring 19 points. Over his three years on varsity, he has scored 421 career points. Junior Andrew Barham finished with 12 points for the Blue Devils. Over his two varsity seasons he has 164 career points.
