Estimates place the storm now arriving on Sunday towards the afternoon. THE STORM WILL BRING STRONG WINDS…TORRENTIAL RAINFALL AND COASTAL FLOODING. HEAVY AND POSSIBLY RECORD SETTING RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN THE SATURDAY TO SUNDAY TIME FRAME MAY RESULT IN 6-12 INCHES OF RAINFALL IS EXPECTED WHICH COULD LEAD TO MAJOR FLOODING I……N SOME LOCATIONS.
NOW IS THE TIME TO START PREPARING. Make sure food, water, medications, batteries are in good supply. Have a hard line old style phone available to get Code Red alerts. Secure outdoor furniture. Check on elderly family members.
EVACUATIONS MAYBE CALLED FOR in low areas of the Borough. Car parking will be away from low areas in Port-au-Peck, Gooseneck and Horseneck section. UPDATED INFORMATION ON PARKING- The outside grandstand parking lot off Port-au-Peck Ave, where the fair and circus have been will be the lot used for parking vehicles. The areas near the heliport will be used for people parking boats. Vehicles that are towed from streets will also be located in the same area of the parking lot.
Make arrangement with family or friends to care for pets. Shelters will not be able to care for them with people.
Nearest shelter for Oceanport Residents will be Holmdel High School. They are working to establish a pet shelter nearby. Another shelter for south Monmouth County will be at Wall Twp. High School with a shelter for pets in the Vocational School next door. Pets must be in cages and you should bring food. An additional shelter may be established closer, but has not been establish yet.
