For some, Election Day will be relatively uneventful
November 3, 2011Two Republicans, write-in in WLB
November 3, 2011In Sea Bright, sitting Mayor Maria Fernandes has chosen not to seek another term, leading to a three-way race for the chair between Republican Jo-Ann Kalaka-Adams, Democrat Dina Long, and independent Christopher Sandel. In the council race, two Democrats are challenging the two Republican incumbents for their seats.
Kalaka-Adams, a 30-year resident of the borough, served as mayor from 2004-2007, and says she would bring both her political experience, and 30 years of practice in business and marketing, to the job.
Long has served on council since 2003, and was council president in 2008. She currently works as a member of the English Faculty of Brookdale Community College.
Sandel, a 15-year resident, has 25 years of experience in the financial sector.
Councilman Read Murphy and James LoBiondo are being challenged by Marc Leckstein and Desiree Pierce.
