February 23, 2012Oceanport — Due to an increase in motor vehicle complaints, the administration of the Oceanport Police Department, along with the Oceanport Traffic Safety Unit, has instituted a zero tolerance speeding enforcement campaign for 2012.
The speed limit initiative will be made up of officers assigned to various locations in the borough every day, solely for the strict enforcement of speed limit rules. Officers will specifically be targeting 25 mph speed zones and areas around schools and parks.
Police say residents and visitors to Oceanport should not assume that any speed above the posted limit is acceptable.
“Public safety is the Police Department’s primary duty and everyone’s responsibility,” says a memo issued by the police detailing the campaign. “We appreciate your assistance in keeping Oceanport not just a great place to live, but a safe place to live and visit.”
