Coming off a 9-8
season last year the Caseys of Red Bank Catholic are looking for big
improvements this year as the 2012 boys lacrosse season gets going.
Entering his eighth season as the Caseys’ head coach is Ryan Eichner. Red Bank
Catholic competes in the Class A North division of the Shore Conference and was
the preseason pick to finish second, with CBA taking the top spot. Freehold
Township, Howell, Colts Neck, Wall Marlboro, Ocean Township, Neptune and Long
Branch round out the division in that predicted finish.
Neptune had a 6-12 season last year and is coached by Frank Palumbo, who enters
his first season as the top man on the sidelines. RBC hosted the Scarlet Fliers
last Thursday, and it was not much of a contest as the Caseys defeated Neptune
15-0, and held a 24-10 shot on goal advantage.
The Caseys took a 6-0 first quarter lead, and scored eight additional goals in
the second quarter taking a 14-0 lead into the halftime break. The second half
the Caseys turned down the pressure and only scored one goal in the third
quarter and won the game 15-0, and improved to 1-1 on the season while Neptune
suffered its second consecutive loss of 2012.
