July 26, 2012Oceanport Mayor Michael Mahon has stated that the U.S. Army will be conducting training exercises tonight, July 23, 2012, starting at 8:00pm on the Fort Monmouth property.
According to the Oceanport Facebook page, the Oceanport Police Department was notified by NJ State Police that members of the Special Operations Group out of Fort Bragg will be conducting training drills on and around the Fort Monmouth area. Training is expected to last all week.
Just over a month ago the same Special Forces Units conducted training in Long Branch and at Fort Monmouth. Over 60 members of the Unit participated in urban type warfare training. They repelled onto roof tops and executed dynamic entry and room clearing. Explosions could be seen and heard as well as low flying helicopters during the training that lasted about three hours.
So expect more explosions and low flying military aircraft this week.
