$1M grant for Affordable Housing Alliance

Eatontown — The Affordable Housing Alliance has announced it is the recipient of a $1,000,000 grant from the Robin Hood Relief Fund to help purchase, transport and install 17 affordable new manufactured homes for rental or sales to Monmouth County residents who have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy, and to provide assistance to those displaced residents who cannot afford the security deposit on a new rental property.

The Eatontown, NJ-based Affordable Housing Alliance is a non-profit agency providing housing and services to support those in need of affordable housing. “This is the largest gift in our agency’s 20-plus year history and it could not have arrived at a better time,” said Donna M. Blaze, Chief Executive Officer of the Affordable Housing Alliance. “The availability of affordable housing in Monmouth County was already scarce; SuperStorm Sandy simply exacerbated to a huge degree this already critical affordable housing shortage.  “We are extremely grateful to the Robin Hood Foundation. The speed with which they assessed the post-storm situation and targeted critical agencies for funding is a reflection of their efforts to create powerful positive change in communities. Their support of non-profits like the Affordable Housing Alliance, those on the front lines in areas hardest hit by the storm, will make a tremendous difference in our ability to respond quickly to people’s needs as we begin the long-term recovery and rebuilding process.” The Robin Hood Foundation has released more than $14.8 million to tri-state area non-profits – including those on the Jersey Shore, Coney Island, Long Island, Staten Island, Red Hook and the Rockaways – since Hurricane Sandy struck.
