Another body found in Long Branch
April 10, 2013MB man runs for Boston Marathon victim
April 18, 2013Around noon Wednesday, the yellow Grove RT 700E Crane owned by Tarheel Enterprises at the Channel Club Marina slowly tipped over and partially fell off the pier while installing pilings on Dock A. The top of the boom is now resting in the water. No one was hurt although several people were work
ing on the dock at the time. The driver said that it happened very slowly so he had time to brace himself and then climb out once he was upside down. The crane’s owner, George Chrysanthopoulos, was not on the premises at the time but arrived shortly there after. He plans to use another crane to lift it out as soon as possible and was glad that no one who was on the dock at the time was injured, including his father, who had to jump into the water to avoid the falling crane. There was little wind in the area and it is not known why the crane, which has a maximum capacity of 55 tons and is valued at half a million dollars, became unbalanced.
is in the middle of making extensive repairs and upgrades to the whole facility.
