Monmouth Beach resident Stephen Casner has announced that he will be dedicating his running in the Asbury Park 1/2 Marathon this weekend to the memory of Martin Richard – the eight-year-old who lost his life at the Boston Marathon tragedy.
“It is time for us to send a message that our American values that celebrate family, respect, freedom and perseverance will eventually overcome all,” Casner said.
Casner is raising money for the Richards family. He is hoping to raise $10,000 for a non-profit fund which has been set up to help them. As of Thursday afternoon he had collected more than $6,700.
