Ocean Township — A man was charged with several offenses, including driving while intoxicated, after he allegedly drove his truck through garage doors.
According to the Ocean Township Police Department, on Aug. 8, shortly after 9:15 p.m., Ptl. Mark Del Tin and Jessie Orbach responded to a Redwood Drive residence to a reported family dispute. Upon arrival, officers determined that the accused, John Borea, 46, of Ocean, was involved in a family dispute. After being asked to leave the residence by the property owner, police say Borea drove his Nissan Titan pickup truck through two closed garage doors, completely destroying them and the center pillar. The victim’s Nissan Pathfinder that was parked inside the garage was also damaged. Police said further investigation revealed that Borea was suspected of operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested at the scene. He was charged criminally with Criminal Mischief, Criminal Trespass and Harassment. He was additionally charged with several motor vehicle offenses including Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test and Reckless Driving. Bail was set by the Judge Timothy McGoughran at $10,000. with no ten percent option. Borea was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution to await a future court hearing.
