The Commission has received additional information indicating an elevated risk for the transmission of West Nile virus. In response, the Commission will be conducting targeted adult mosquito control operations to knock down adult mosquito numbers and break the disease amplification cycle on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. August and September are peak months for West Nile virus activity. Residents and visitors are advised to use insect repellent or protective clothing when outdoors, day or night.
Monmouth County residents can help reduce the production of mosquitoes and the amplification of West Nile virus by diligently emptying containers of water. Be sure to check for standing water after every rain!
