January 21, 2015Ocean Township — A report of a man falling from a window led to burglary charges.
According to the Ocean Township Police Department, on Jan. 2 at 2:38 a.m., Officer Kyle Kane responded to an Aldrin Road apartment in reference to a man who fell from a second story window.
Upon arrival, Officer Kane located Jamaar L. Jefferson, 23, Toms River, sitting on the front porch of the apartment. An investigation revealed that Jefferson had climbed a wall leading to a second story apartment of someone known to him.
When he attempted to remove a window air conditioner, he lost his balance and fell to the ground. He was uninjured from the fall.
Jefferson was placed under arrest and charged with attempted burglary and possession a burglary tool, a screwdriver, which he used in his burglary attempt. Bail was set by Judge Timothy McGoughran at $2,500 with no ten percent option. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution to await a future court hearing.
