November 17, 2020LINCROFT– ‘Tis the season to get out and enjoy your county parks! The Monmouth County Park System makes it easy this December by offering fun, family-friendly, drop-in programs including The Sounds of Christmas, Wondrous Winter Walks, and Clear the House Stroll. Here’s what’s planned:
The Casual Birder
Tuesday, December 1 at 9 a.m.
Fisherman’s Cove Conservation Area, Manasquan – Meet at the Activity Center.
Tuesday, December 15 at 9 a.m.
Thompson Park, Lincroft – Meet in the Marlu Lake parking area.
Gopal, Houghtaling & Downey COVID update
Join a Park System Naturalist for a laid-back morning bird walk and meander for about an hour and a half and see what birds we can find. No need to be an expert at identifying birds to enjoy. A limited number of binoculars will be available on a first come basis. Open to all ages; under 18 with adult. FREE!
Wondrous Winter Walks
Wednesday, December 2 from 10-11:30 a.m.
Huber Woods Environmental Center, Middletown – Meet in the parking lot.
Wednesday, December 16 from 10-11:30 a.m.
Fine Fare Supermarket – Earn a FREE Turkey – See weekly Specials!
Manasquan Reservoir Environmental Center, Howell – Meet in the parking lot.
Toss on your winter gear and tag along with a Park System Naturalist as you explore nature in the wintertime. Open to all ages; under 18 with adult. Please note that sturdy footwear recommended; trails used may have inclines or tree roots to step over. FREE!
The Sounds of Christmas
Sunday, December 13 from 1-3 p.m.
Historic Longstreet Farm, Holmdel
Enjoy sounds of the season as Larry Moser and Mary Nagin play Christmas carols on the hammered dulcimer and fiddle. FREE!
Winter Beach Walk
Wednesday, December 16 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Fisherman’s Cove Conservation Area, Manasquan
Take a guided walk with a Park System Naturalist along the beach while collecting and identifying some of the ocean’s natural treasures. Make sure you dress in warm clothing and bring along something to carry shells. FREE!
Clear the House Stroll
Thursday, December 24 at 10 a.m.
Deep Cut Gardens, Middletown
Send everyone for a one-hour stroll through the gardens with a Park System Naturalist to enjoy Deep Cut’s winter splendor. FREE!
