January 11, 2013Oceanport – Wolf Hill Elementary School was put into a lockdown this afternoon after a staff member reported seeing a suspicious person outside the building around 2:00 in the afternoon, according to Andrew Orefice, Superintendent of Schools.
Police immediately responded to the area and conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area. According to police radio conversation they were searching for a black or Hispanic male wearing a green army type jacket and green hat. The suspect according to radio traffic, could possibly be holding a black gun.
In a letter posted on the district website and social media sites, Orefice said police recommended the lockdown. “According to police, our students and staff were not in any danger at any time during this situation and the suspicious individual was never on school property,” wrote Orefice.
Residents near the school told The Link News of the highly visible police presences, patrol cars searching the area.
