December 23, 2013Ocean Township – Detective Lieutenant Kevin L. Faller, the Department Public Information Officer, has released a statement in regards to an aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. The incident occurred on December 22, at 12:18 pm.
According to the statement Township of Ocean Police were notified by the Neptune Township Police Department that a victim of an assault was currently being treated at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Patrolman Luke Sciallo started an investigation for the Township of Ocean PD and discovered that a 55 year old woman, who is a resident of Ocean, had been speaking with her estranged boyfriend. Police have identified that man as Nathaniel Sladkin.
The police report goes on to say that the female victim and Sladkin were talking in the parking lot of the Primrose Place apartment building, Hidden Meadows Drive. “As the victim was standing next to Mr. Sladkin’s open car door, he accelerated causing the car door to strike the victim and knocking her to the ground,” wrote Faller. He added in that statement; “While on the ground, the victim’s foot was run over by the vehicle’s tire. Mr. Sladkin fled the scene.”
The victim was taken to Jersey Shore by a family member. Faller stated that the victim did not suffer any serious injuries other than the pain to her foot and facial swelling from being hit by the door.
Sladkin, 73, lives in Farmingdale, he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. He was released without posted bail pending a future court hearing.
