January 4, 2014Long Branch – Police have arrested a 55-year old city man following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault that took place on Christmas Day.
Jason Roebuck, Public Safety Director, stated in a prepared release that on December 27, 2013 his officers arrested Galdino Zuniga of 135 North Fifth Avenue. “He was arrested for aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child,” Rosebuck said in the release. Zuniga according to law enforcement is employed as an auto detailer. “The incident took place on Christmas Day at approximately 5pm.”
The Star Ledger has reported that Zuniga had sexually penetrated the young victim (who they identify as a 7-year old girl) with his hand twice on December 25, 2013. That information was not contained in the press release issued by the Long Branch Police Department or Director Roebuck.
However, Roebuck did say that Zuniga was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $600,000 bail. No other information was provided as to the arresting officers or how the police were notified.
