February 5, 2014Oceanport — Monmouth Park Racetrack has announced participation bonus programs for its 2014 racing season, including a trainer bonus for every runner in a non-state-bred race, as well as a bonus for owners of horses finishing fifth thru last.
“Our primary goal is to give bettors the best possible product,” said Bob Kulina, president of Darby Development LLC, operators of Monmouth Park Racetrack. “We expect the participation bonuses to have a positive effect on field size and competitiveness, while rewarding horsemen for their support given the increased cost of horse ownership.”
Throughout the course of Monmouth’s 2014 summer meet – slated to begin on Saturday, May 10 – a trainer will receive a $300 bonus for every non-state-bred starter regardless of surface.
Additionally, owners will receive a minimum of $700 for every non-state-bred dirt starter and a minimum of $500 for every open turf runner.
New Jersey breds will continue to be eligible for a 40 percent purse bonus when running against open company.
Monmouth’s 2014 stall application form is now available under the Horsemen tab at www.monmouthpark.com. The deadline to submit a stall application is Thursday, March 13.
