West Long Branch – Police responded to the intersection of Broadway and Rt. 36 at 1:20 in the morning on September 3, on a reported overturned vehicle.
What police discovered was an overturned car with one of the occupants suffering from a gunshot wound. According to Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Charles Webster the victim was a female and is currently in good condition at an area hospital.
The Link News has developed information that the victim might be from Monmouth Beach, but that was not confirmed nor denied by law enforcement.
Eatontown Police have also confirmed that they are investigating a possible shooting in their borough. Detective Lieutenant Lawrence Tyler said all inquiries of the shooting should be directed to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
One theory being tossed around is the shooting occurred in another town and they were racing to get to the hospital, when they filliped the car.
