Oceanport — Sunday, August 7 will mark the 11th Annual Kortney’s Challenge 2 Mile FUN Run/Walk at Monmouth Park.
Over the years, the Kortney Rose Foundation (KRF) has raised over one million dollars for pediatric brain/central nervous system (CNS) tumor research at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
Their support has helped CHOP build the Children’s Brain Tumor Tissue Consortium (CBTTC), a multi-institutional collaborative effort to find answers for brain tumors, the #1 solid tumor cause of death in children.
The KRF has been a meaningful partner with the CBTTC and the new Center for Data Driven Discovery in Biomedicine. We are encouraged more than ever that our support is helping to revolutionize the way pediatric cancer research is being done and will lead to meaningful discoveries.
Registration is now open for Kortney’s Challenge at thekortneyrosefoundation.org.
This flat 2 mile course is great for all levels of runners and walkers. The top three boys and girls, 12 & under, and top three men and women, 13 & over, will receive a trophy. All children 12 & under will receive a custom Kortney’s Challenge medal.
Pre-Registration check in and day of registration begin at 8:30 a.m. Also starting at 8:30 a.m., free tattoos, face painting, and more.
There is a 9:00 a.m. exhibition by the Dance Plus Performance Team.
All paying entrants to Kortney’s Challenge will receive free grandstand entrance to the track for the day of racing or you may purchase a ticket(s) to the picnic area for the Day at the Races event, held in conjunction with the Oceanport PBA. The ticket gains you entry to our picnic area, food, beverages, a race program and a day full of horse racing and a good time for two great causes.
In addition, again this year, the track is also hosting the Food Bank the same day. They will be collecting donations of non-perishable items which can be dropped off in the receptacles at the entry areas to the track.
