Three different Spartans of Ocean Township High School scored goals in the 3-0 field hockey victory over Middletown North on Saturday morning.
All three goals were scored in the first quarter of the game. Forward Maddie Kirchner had an unassisted goal, Ally Walk on defense scored off an assist from Erica Pardon, and the final goal was slammed into the goal by Jordan Dobin.
In the cage for the Spartans was Sofie Chebookjian, who didn’t have to face a single shot as the Spartan defense completely shut down the Lions of Middletown North.
With the win, Ocean improved to 4-1 on the season, their only loss being 7-0 on opening day to Middletown South. The next four game resulted in 2-1 win over Southern Regional, 11-0 victory over Neptune, 3-0 against St. John Vianney and the 3-0 win over the Lions.
So far this season midfielder Erica Pardon has five goals and one assist. Senior midfielder Walk has four goals and four assists. Two players have three goals each; Kichner and Dobin, who also have two assists. Freshman Caroline Bariscillo and senior Catie Horn each have two goals. Horn also has one assist, while teammates Taylor Hough has four and Caylee Zanga has one assist. Chebookjian has a total of 23 saves on the season as of the Middletown North game.
