WEST LONG BRANCH – Monmouth University earned its highest-ever ranking on the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Colleges list, moving up two spots to No. 15 in the Regional Universities North category. Additionally, Monmouth is again featured on the lists for Top Performers on Social Mobility, Best Value Schools, and Best Colleges for Veterans.
Monmouth earned significant gains on the Top Performers on Social Mobility list, landing at No. 33—18 spots over last year and 44 spots over two years ago. The measurement evaluates an institution’s ability to advance social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of financially disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants.
“Our rise to No. 15 marks a milestone for Monmouth University and reflects the collective commitment of our entire campus community to academic excellence, access, and student success,” said MU President Patrick Leahy. “I am particularly proud of the strides we’ve made in advancing social mobility. Our growing national reputation, driven by our focus on delivering quality and affordability, positions us as a leading choice for students seeking both excellence and opportunity.”
U.S. News & World Report also again named Monmouth a Best Value School, ranked at No. 58. According to its methodology, U.S. News determines its Best Value Schools by taking into account a school’s academic quality, as indicated by its 2025 U.S. News Best Colleges ranking, and the 2023-2024 net cost of attendance for an out-of-state student who received the average level of need-based financial aid. The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal. Only schools ranked in or near the top half of their categories are included because U.S. News considers the most significant values to be among colleges that are above average academically.
Monmouth also made a repeat appearance on the Best Colleges for Veterans list, ranking No. 36. This list includes the top-ranked schools in the 2025 Best Colleges rankings that participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members pay for their degrees.
