September 15, 2011Eatontown — The Borough of Eatontown will host a day-long event at Wolcott Park in Eatontown. “Community Day” will include all-day family fun for both Eatontown residents and those from surrounding towns. This year’s Community Day will be from 3-10 p.m. on Saturday, September 24. The rain date is Sunday, September 25.
The Eatontown Community Day Committee hopes to see an even better turnout from last year. The goal of this event is to have all day family fun from afternoon to night while bringing a community together through food, music, and entertainment.
Eatontown Community Day will have something to offer for every family member. Food and drinks will be provided by many local vendors, including Chicken and Ribs BBQ by Pine Brook Volunteer Fire Department. Other food vendors include Mikey’s Ice Cream and Italian Ice, Shore Confections, Ruffino’s Restaurant & Pizza, and the Eatontown Lion’s Club serving hamburgers and hotdogs. From funnel cakes to handmade pizza, this event will have something to satisfy every taste bud.
The Eatontown Municipal Band, Eatontown Choraliers, as well as local churches will be providing musical entertainment to the crowds throughout the day.
The screening of the popular film, “Despicable Me” will end entertainment for the night as it will be projected under the stars at 8:30 p.m.
Children will enjoy the “Action Inflatable Rides,” face painting, tattoo art, balloon creations, petting zoo, and pony rides.
Eatontown Recreation will be sponsoring two free contests during the day, including a Wiffle Ball Tournament starting at 3:30 p.m. and a Basketball Foul Shooting Contest starting at 4:30 p.m. Both are for children and adults ages 8 and up. Pre-registration is required for each event, as each contest is completely free of cost. A Historical Committee Bus Tour is also scheduled at both 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., which offers even long-time residents to tour Eatontown and to learn something new.
Committed community groups including the Eatontown Recreation Department and Eatontown Police, Fire, and EMS, as well as many others, have helped to put this event together. Eatontown Community Day will feature displays from such organizations as Pride in Eatontown and Eatontown Cub Scouts, plus many more. This will allow the community to be aware of what is going on, and how to get involved.
Other local vendors include surrounding businesses and organizations who will offer giveaways, prizes, and flyers full of information.
