Long Branch fire and police have Joline Ave closed from Liberty to Long Branch Ave.
Long Branch firemen and police wait for NJNG to patch the leak. The broken pipe line is only a few feet up on the left, just before the bridge.
You could smell gas and hear the leak hissing as you got closer to the source. Emergency crews were waiting outside a safe perimeter waiting for New Jersey Natural Gas to come and patch the leak.
A backhoe working in front of the Sewerage Authority broke a natural gas line on Monday and Long Branch Police closed off Joline Ave. from Liberty Street to Long Branch Ave. and north towards Atlantic Ave. The line was broken just on the east side of the bridge. As of 3:30 today, the roads were still blocked and NJNG workers were checking out the severity of the problem.
