January 23, 2015Affordable housing suit called cause of ‘rather high’ legal fees
January 28, 2015“Everything is in place and ready to go,” said Stanley Dziuba, Head of the Long Branch Office of Emergency Management (OEM). “The Department of Public Works (DPW) is ready.”
According to Dziuba they are ready for the storm and are expecting 18-24 inches of snow and 30-mph winds with gusts up to 5o mph.
The city is telling taxi cabs to be off the road by 3pm and bars to be closed by 8pm.
“We have activated the Emergency Operation Center and are on standby. We are expecting the worst between midnight and 10am,” Dziuba said.
He said that they are expecting 1-2 inches per hour and 2-4 inches at the storm’s worst.
“There will be Code Red warning starting this afternoon,” Dziuba said.
Long Branch Schools will be closed on Tuesday and most likely Wednesday.
Long Branch warns that as a part of the clearing process, your driveway or street parking location may have snow obstructing it. This is unavoidable in the snow removal process. A big help to their effort is the removal of vehicles from the roadway, so equipment can work curb to curb. They also ask residents, if possible to remove snow from hydrants near their homes.
Garbage pickup for Tuesday has been cancelled.
